I'm sorry to hear you have had problms with out store but you know it really helps if when people do have troubles they let us know about it directly. Granted it is a fair bet I was going to find out here but if you'd actually sent me an email about it I'd have been more than happy to see what I can do to fix it. I still am but are you going to give me that chance? I hope so. If you'd be so kind as to shoot me an email to let me know what you were doing and what order things happened in it'd help.

Alan,
I already tried emailing you through hello@savagemojo.com, as listed on your site, but the email bounced. I figured this was the next best place, since you'd clearly been posting here recently. If there's anything you can do to fix my issue, I am still interested in Suzerain.

The email bounced? Well that is no good at all... Alright chap I'll shoot you a pm via these forums to get things moving. Good call on posting here - thank you for persevering when it sounds like the greater powers of technology in the universe have decided to play with you.... _________________ Time will tell. Suzerain is big. Big enough to be just about any setting you might like. If you've got a few minutes you might like to have a browse around our wiki, some good starting points are:
Suzerain
And the Suzewiki on suzerain.info is a repository for information about the Suzerain Universe. What you might think of as settings we call:
Realms
Because in Suzerain, if you wana, your characters don't have to stay in one realm. So you can take your medieval knight and his entourage to visit a dystopian cyberpunk future. Or the other way around.
Why would you? Well that is up to you. You don't have to remember so don't sweat it and stick to adventuring in just one Realm, there is plenty of scope for that. It is just when you are playing characters who might just ascend to become gods one day you need to keep options open. Yes gods. No we don't really let you play gods but you get to be demigod for the final third of your career (more if you don't want to retire your characters at 180xp and it is only a recommendation) and demigods are pretty much as rocking as you would expect them to be.
So you could play your banjo bard, no problems. Spreading your tuneful musings across time, space, realities and everything if you wanted to in Suzerain. Sound good? _________________ Time will tell. She always does.

January is the month of the Dogs
Welcome to January. Welcome to 2010. Welcome to a new decade, for that matter.
Now that we've all slept off our festive stupor, it's time to get back to the keyboard and start telling you about the next stage of development. Savage Suzerain is live, of course, but that's not quite the end of the story. We have plenty of books following that one, starting with Dogs of Hades. In honor of the fact that Dogs is our big release for January, I'll be spending a bit of time looking at what makes the book unique, asking why you'd want to pick it up from the virtual shelf - and from the very physical shelf once it gets back from the printers.

The King And His Lady
Yesterday I posted the cover art from Dogs of Hades, which we're finishing up in January. I also suggested you can tell a lot from a book cover. How so? Well, in this case we've got a fine regal Greek in the centre of things. His name's Telemachos, and he's an important guy in the plot-point campaign. Strong, muscular, confident... he's your typical gifted leader. He has that easy manner that gives him the trust of his people.

Aeneas And The Axe
Now that all had a chance to 'ooh' and 'ahh' over the pretty shinies in my last post, back to those Dogs of Hades. And today, I've got something a little special for you, the intro fiction from the Player's Section of the book. It's rather good - well done Magnus!
The early morning sun casts deep shadows over the little alley where two hoplites are cornered. The light seems unnatural, warping the colors. Especially the red tint of blood slowly oozing from the murdered guide who lies, still twitching, at the intersection.

The Axe (Part II)
Crouching down behind the Aegis Shield, the two men run almost blind. Aeneas grips Stavros' shoulder firmly with his left hand, clutching his Hades Blade in his right. He curses the vanity that made him leave his Bio-Ceramic armor at the barracks.
Stavros, a veteran of more than twenty years has not been so foolish. Not only has he come in full armor, he even brought his Aegis Shield to the theatre where the evening began. At the time, Aeneas and the other younger hoplites snickered at what they felt was excessive caution. Despite the smiles of the theatre ushers, the inn keeper, and brothel madam, Gortyna is enemy territory; you should never go unarmed into enemy territory.

Interview With The Creator
Yes indeed. I've been lucky enough to sit down with Magnus, the creator of Dogs of Hades and the whole Garden of Athena realm, and ask him a few questions about the project. Here we go:
How would you describe the gaming experience of Dogs of Hades to someone who's never heard of it?
My usual catchphrase is “Spartans in Space”, but to be honest I think a more precise description would be “Dune meets 300 meets Civilization the way Homer would have written it”.
When did you start developing this ancients-meets-science-fiction world? Talk us through the development you've done over the years.
Sit back, this might take a few moments…

Nobles Oblige
Continuing on from my interview with Magnus, I asked him last night why he'd made one of the changes to the existing Edges, 'Noble'. After all, we don't change what's there unless it's going to make a great difference. The thing is, Magnus knows the Garden planet of Athens, really knows it inside and out. And he knows what feels right and what doesn't.
First, here's the change we're making to 'Noble':

Technology In Dogs Of Hades
“To learn the secret of Athenian weapons, you must understand why the gods have given them to us. Not all have been given with good intent, or even on purpose...”
From “Understanding my Ancestors”, by Lycurgus the Elder
Dogs of Hades is a science fiction campaign and that causes all manner of interesting design decisions. After all, it's also a game steeped in Greek mythology. Somewhere along the line we need to square those two to produce a blended gaming experience. Suzerain, of course, is founded on the concept of Pulse rather than Power Points. Every character gets Pulse and can use it to do 'magical' things. An ancient Chinese martial artist who can run across water. A barbarian warrior whose huge sword can slice through any armor, even the thickest dragon hide. A cyberpunk assassin whose cranial port allows her to plug in chips with knowledge of any skill.

Tech Dogs (part two)
The following text comes directly from the Dogs of Hades book, straight from the horse's (dog's?) mouth:
Though they claim their culture is superior, the Athenians have in fact produced little of their own miraculous technology. Most have been given as gifts from the gods, such as the Aegis Shield or the Recurve Blaster, or has been revealed by the mysterious Oracle, such as the Crystal Drive or regenerative blood plasma. However, the Athenians haven’t shied away from changing or adapting the gods’ gifts to serve other purposes. Here’s a brief look at the most important technology in the Garden of Athena realm.

Plans, New Plans and Time
I know, I know. It's been a while I've been away from this blog. A couple of weeks is a long time in blogdom, but from where I'm standing the time's just flown by. Sooooooo many things are going on at the moment and it seems I'm scribbling in the margins of our release schedule at least a couple of times a day.
Now, most publishers will tell you that's a worrying thing.. it rarely bodes well. Not so, at least not this time. Sure, there have been a few disappointments and I won't deny it. We hoped to have the Dogs of Hades layout all finished by now, but it seems to be one of those things that's stretching off into the distance and every time we close in on it, it shows us there's more to do. But we're getting there, thankfully. New illustrations were needed, but Aaron's been working diligently and we're into the home straight.
But it'd be unfair to dwell on that. Most of the things from the last few weeks have been really positive. We're closer to a full version of Noir Knights than I'd feared and the illustrations there are just great. The last couple of bits are being done by Chaz Kemp now. It's going to be a great book. I can feel it. 1930s X-Files. What's not to love.

My oh my do we have a lot going on right now - even I'm having trouble keeping up with it all. I heartily recommend eyeballing some of those links to find out more - I know I did.
Updates
We've got a new wiki page update for Dogs of Hades - just click on the link to go there - and a new page update for Noir Knights too. We've been doing wiki work with Shanghai Vampocalypse too. Thanks to the efforts of an old friend of the Savage Mojo family, Brian Kendrick, you can now look through all the Edges, Hindrances and Powers in that book, with more to come soon.

Cyber Punks
We're steaming forward at an amazing pace (quite literally with out steampunk setting, Mechadia!) and sometimes I forget that I should be passing on a bit of that information to you guys and girls. Oops - sorry about that. Today, and for the rest of this week, in fact, I have a treat for you all. At the end of this email I'll be putting one of our Shanghai Vampocalypse illustrations, by no less than Jason Engle. It's wonderful, and says it all - night time in a near-future city. There's neon and guns and dark sunglasses despite it being pitch black (you just know they'll have a head-up display on the inside of the shades, right?).
What you don't see is that just off the side of the page there are 8 million vampires charging down the street at thise cool characters... fresh meat!
Happy Suzeraining!

Sword, Meet Vampires
In my second image from Jason Engle for Shanghai Vampocalypse this week, we finally get to the meat of the matter... vampires! And a mystical hero to save humanity. He'll be your character when you play the campaign, by the way (or someone very like him). With a handful of trusted friends he's tasked with reclaiming the city, one slice at a time!
Happy Suzeraining!

Hunting
Here's another image from Jason Engle for Shanghai Vampocalypse - a detail from an illustration called 'Hunter' which shows that vampire slaying in the near future is an equal opportunities profession. Have big gun? Check. Have nerves of steel? Check. Have a nice day!

Channelling The Dragon
Here's image four from Jason Engle for Shanghai Vampocalypse - Mysticism. Big guns can help kill a few vampires. A sword is good - doesn't jam or run out of ammo. But when you've got the Dragon of the Bund on your side, all you need is glowing eyes and orange robes. This is a personal fave of mine - an awesome illustration. Spot the ancestor spirits behind the monk, ready to back him up. A hint about the Master of Veneration path of magic you'll see in the book.

Soldier Of The Apocalypse
And here's the final image in this preview set from Jason Engle for Shanghai Vampocalypse. I hope you've all enjoyed the sneak peek as much as I did when I first saw this great set of art (from the emails I've been getting this week, I suspect that's a big 'yes'!). And now, back to the regular flow of things. But don't get too comfortable; I'm expecting to have another art gallery week really soon.
There's some amazing art out there, all waiting to go into our coming books.
Happy Suzeraining!

The day is come, Noir Knights is out in PDF, keep your eyes open for the book showing up in the coming months. Not sure what Noir Knights is, here is the book text:
This Savage realm of Suzerain is the tale of the 1930s Great Depression as you’ve never experienced it. For Heroic rank characters who are feeling particularly heroic, Noir Knights is part of our American Grit realm, where government agents investigate paranormal activity across a hard boiled film noir America.
Whether it’s a supernatural swampland encounter in Florida or otherworldly conspiracies in the corridors of power, the truth is out there – just waiting for your characters to find it. Industry and legend clash in a time of folk heroes, hobo mages, and secret societies.
America is a nation of dust and determination.
Ride the rails and prove your mettle.

So we've been pretty quite at savage mojo central. As usual speaks more of the amount we are up to than anything else!
Now I'm not going to spoil any surprises but there is much in the works. You can expect more soon.
